A few weeks ago the gang got together to get some fabs shots in time for the amazing upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The idea was to replicate a street party style wedding reception with afternoon tea and a fully British summer holiday vibe.
Buckets and spades with a paddle in the sea and old school deckchairs on the beach.
Well......the inevitable happened.......the typical British weather stepped up in traditional manner and rained on our parade........
Now normally we would have battled on but this time it was too cold, wet and windy to Keep Calm and Carry On.
A plan B had to be sorted and quickly.
We called in lots of favours and finally managed to relocate to the fabulous Quay Arts in Newport.
Quickly with stiff upper lips, we re jigged, reorganised and relocated.
The street party idea wasn't possible but I am sure it may resurface in the future.
Instead it became a very simple backdrop with banners of organza and stripes all in the obligatory red, white and blue.
Afternoon tea however still featured as tea and cake solve every problem......don't cha know......
The amazingly patient and beautiful models, Company B, were gracious in the change of plans and still looked stunning despite the issues on the day.
Many thanks to Harriet, Thea and Natalie especially for the wonderful singing throughout the day.
Catch them this Bank holiday weekend on the Isle of Wight singing many old classics in the style of The Andrew Sisters......but better in my view, shhhh.
A vintage bride wearing an reconsidered gown with the heavy veil made from the original train. Changing a modern style into a vintage high/low length wedding dress.
I challenged myself to re envision one of my sample dresses into a 1950s style gown. Make do and mend was the mindset due to rationing on fabric etc. Sadly I didn't have access to a parachute or it would have been a very different design.
The two bridesmaids were created from original 1950s patterns from my extensive stash. Being a sewing hoarder does have its rewards........
One in glorious red and the other in navy with white dots.
All accessorized with elegant gloves, bandana, belt and floral posies of white and red roses and more organza to trim.
The very patient team who are always willing to go with my 'fabulous ideas' without complaining and totally humour me are the great ladies in my life, Tracey Freeman, Jo Lofthouse, Holly Cade and Lizzie Wade.
All amazing professionals and good for a fun shoot.
Thank you ladies. Next time I will definitely have a waterproof plan B ready XXX
